As any knitter who follows the Yarn Harlot would know, Doctors Without Borders is a charity that gives humanitarian medical aid to those who most need it, "regardless of race, religion, politics or gender and also to raising awareness of the plight of the people we help".

And as any sock knitter (and anyone following the Yarn Harlot!) would know... this August sees the Sock Summit in Portland, Oregon (If only I wasn't afraid to fly!).

For this event, Larissa Brown, author of the book Knitalong, is encouraging people to help knit squares for her Barn Raising Quilts to be auctioned or raffled off at Sock Summit with the proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders.

How can I help I hear you ask! Well pop on over to the Knitalong website, download the info, and get knitting!

I'm definitely going to try and get a few squares done, even if its means ignoring all my other knitting for a while :) The squares must reach Portland by June 9th, so you've got a while to get some knitted!

Hope some people will join me in this venture :)

Ooh I'll try and give this a go – we've supported MSF for a long time, and I really want to try donating more and being a proper Knitter Without Borders! No money at the moment so this seems a good place to start :-)

I have sock re-sizes to knit through and my UFO to finish by the end of May, so I will not be able to join in the squarefest :(
